Top 5 ways to buy tickets for Tokyo Disneyland & Sea in 2022

We want to go to a Disney park in Japan this year, but can we still buy tickets as before?

Tokyo Disney Resort reopened on July 1, 2020, but to the date of this article, the ticketing system has changed several times.

Currently, we need a ticket with a specific date to enter Tokyo Disneyland and Sea.

So how can we get a ticket with a fixed date?

In this article, I will share with you how to purchase tickets for Disneyland and Sea.

Please note that the information in this article is valid at the date of publication.

Ticket sales may be subject to change depending on the status of coronavirus infection in Japan.

Before purchasing, it is highly recommended to check the official website for the latest information.

Let’s take a look at the top 5 ways to buy tickets!

1. Official app or official website

Tokyo Disney Resort® App

The first way is to purchase tickets on the official website or the official app.

Official app or the online reservation site

Ticket types: 1-Day Passport, Passport with designated entry time (from 10:30 a.m.)
New sales: 2:00 p.m. on the same day two months in advance of the date of visit
Number of tickets available for purchase: Up to 5 tickets per purchase
Payment method: Credit card only

e.g.)
2022/1/5 (Wed.) 2:00 p.m. -: Start of sales for 2022/3/5 (Sat.)
2022/1/6 (Thu) 2:00 p.m.: Start of sales for 2022/3/6 (Sun)
2022/1/7 (Fri) 2:00 p.m. -: Start of sales for 2022/3/7 (Mon)

Tickets that are sold out may be resold without notice.
Please be sure to check the official website when purchasing tickets.

You can check the current sales status at the following URL.

https://www.tokyodisneyresort.jp/en/ticket/index.html

The sales status is updated frequently, so you can check the availability before buying tickets.

It used to be difficult to connect to the site, but now that tickets are available every day, I have more opportunities to purchase them.

2. Convenience store or JTB store

The second way is to purchase tickets at a convenience store or JTB store.

Convenience stores

Convenience stores: Seven-Eleven, FamilyMart, Ministop, Lawson
Type of ticket: 1-Day Passport (subject to sell-out)
New sales: Every Thursday at 2:00 p.m.
A number of tickets available for purchase: Up to 12 per purchase
Payment method: credit card or cash, electronic payment

At convenience stores, you can issue an application ticket at a terminal in the store (not at the checkout counter). Then you need to pay for the ticket price and handling fee at the checkout counter.

JTB

Type of ticket: 1-Day Passport (subject to sell-out)
For tickets with accommodation arrangements: Sales begin every Wednesday at 4 p.m.
For tickets only without accommodation arrangements: Applications open every Thursday
Number of tickets available for purchase: Up to 12 tickets per purchase
Payment method: credit card, cash, or electronic payment
What you need: Reservation for the JTB store visit

Both convenience stores and JTB will sell tickets only, every Thursday.

The inventory is separate from the official app and online reservations & tickets, so it’s worth a try if you can’t buy tickets using the first method I mentioned.

3. Disney Flagship Tokyo

Disney Flagship Tokyo

The third way is to buy tickets at the Disney Flagship Tokyo.

Disney Flagship Tokyo is the largest Disney Store in Japan, located in Shinjuku.

There is a ticket counter on the second floor of the store, and you can purchase tickets by making a reservation to visit.

Disney Flagship Tokyo

Ticket Type: 1-Day Passport (subject to sell-out)
New tickets sold: Every Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.
Duration of tickets sold: Tickets sold up to approximately one month in advance
Number of tickets available for purchase: Up to 5 tickets per reservation to the store
Payment method: Credit card or cash, electronic payment
What you need: Reservation for a store visit

To make a reservation to enter the store, you need to download the Disney Store App (free).

If you are staying near Shinjuku and couldn’t buy the ticket from either of the app, official website, or convenience stores, Flagship Tokyo might be your last chance.

4. Disney Hotels

The fourth method is to purchase tickets by booking a stay at one of the four Disney Hotels through their official websites.

As a special offer for guests, you can purchase a one-day passport for the number of people staying at the hotel for the duration of your stay from the day you check-in.

You do not buy the tickets when you book the hotel, but directly at the hotel.

Disney Hotels

Type of ticket: 1-Day Passport
Sales location: JR Maihama Station Welcome Center, each hotel (except Celebration Hotel)
Hotel counters: 6:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Welcome Center: 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Number of passports available for purchase: 1-Day Passports for the number of people staying from the date of check-in
Payment method: Credit card or cash
Required documents: ID (representative only)

You can buy tickets at the hotel you have reserved or at the Welcome Center located at JR Maihama Station.

Note that Disney Celebration Hotel guests can buy tickets only at the hotel.

If you are entering the park on the day of check-in, it may be a hassle since Celebration Hotel is a bit far.

5. Plan with park tickets at official hotels

Tokyo Disney Resort Welcome Center, JR Maihama Station

Official hotels offer accommodation plans that include park tickets.

Official Hotel

Ticket Type: 1-Day Passport
Sales location: JR Maihama Station Welcome Center, each hotel
Hotel counter: 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.Welcome Center: 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Payment method: Credit card or cash
Required items: Identification (representative only)

At the official hotels, you can buy park tickets for the day you check in or check out.

In the case of Hilton Tokyo Bay, accommodation plans with tickets for the next two months go on sale every day at 11:00.

Also, partner hotels offer accommodation plans that include tickets, but you can only buy tickets for a fixed time (enter the park after 10:30).

If you enter the park after 10:30, standby passes for popular attractions (Soarin’ and Toy Story Mania) may no longer be issued, so I would not recommend it.

Summary

I have outlined five ways to purchase tickets for Tokyo Disneyland and Sea in 2022.

If you’ve ever been to a Disney park in Japan, you’ll know that due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, the ticket sales process has become more complicated and confusing.

Official apps and online reservations sites are now releasing tickets every day, and it looks as if the battle for the tickets has come to an end.

The price fluctuation system has raised the price of holiday tickets, but in Japan, many office workers have weekends off and it can still be difficult to get tickets.

Even if you can’t buy tickets for the day you want to visit the park using one method, there are other ways to buy tickets, so you may want to try different ones.

I’ve posted an article on how to make reservations at the Disney Hotels in 2022 for further reference.

I’ll keep you updated on the latest news on how to buy tickets!
