Tokyo Disney Resort, Tokyo Disneyland, Tokyo DisneySea, Park Ticket, 1-Day Passport

We want to go to a Disney park in Japan this year, but can we still buy tickets as before?

The Tokyo Disney Resort reopened on July 1, 2020, but to date, the ticket-selling system and types have been changed several times.

Currently, we need a ticket with a specific date to enter Tokyo Disneyland and Sea.

So how do we get date-specific tickets?

In this article, I will share with you how to purchase tickets for Disneyland and Sea.

Please note that the information in this article is current as of the date of publication.

Ticket sales may be subject to change depending on the status of the coronavirus infection in Japan.

Before purchasing, it is highly recommended to check the official website for the latest information.

Let’s take a look at the top 5 ways to buy tickets!

#1 Official App or Online Reservation & Tickets

Tokyo Disney Resort App, Official App
Tokyo Disney Resort App (Official App)

The first way is to purchase tickets on the official website or app.

Official app or the online reservation site
  • Ticket types: 1-Day Passport, Fixed Date and Time Passport (from 10:30 a.m.), 1-Day Passport (for Guests with Disabilities), Early Evening Passport, Week Night Passport
  • New sales: 2:00 p.m. on the same day two months before the date of visit
  • Number of tickets available for purchase: Up to 5 tickets per reservation
  • Payment method: Credit card only

e.g.)

  • 2023/1/5 (Thu) 2:00 p.m. -: Start of sales for 2023/3/5 (Sun)
  • 2023/1/6 (Fri) 2:00 p.m.: Start of sales for 2023/3/6 (Mon)
  • 2023/1/7 (Sat) 2:00 p.m. -: Start of sales for 2023/3/7 (Tue)

Tickets that are sold out may be resold without notice.

Please be sure to check the official website when purchasing tickets.

The sales status is updated frequently, so you can check the availability before buying tickets.

It used to be difficult to connect to the site, but now that tickets are available daily, I have more opportunities to purchase them.

#2 Convenience store or JTB store

Lawson, Convenience Store, Hilton Tokyo Bay, Tokyo Disney Resort, Maihama

The second way is to purchase tickets at a convenience store or JTB store.

Convenience stores (Seven-Eleven, FamilyMart, Ministop, Lawson)
  • Type of ticket: 1-Day Passport (subject to sell-out)
  • New sales: Every Thursday at 2:00 p.m.
  • A number of tickets available for purchase: Up to 12 per session.
  • Payment method: credit card or cash, electronic money

e.g.)

  • 2023/1/19 (Thu) 2:00 p.m. -: Start of sales for 2023/2/18 (Sat) – 2023/2/24 (Fri)

At the convenience store, you can issue an application ticket at the terminal in the store, not at the checkout counter, and pay the ticket price and handling fee at the cashier.

Moreover, unlike official apps and online reservation sites, cash payments are accepted in addition to credit cards.

JTB Store
  • Type of ticket: 1-Day Passport (subject to sell-out)
  • For tickets with accommodation arrangements: Sales begin every Wednesday at 4 p.m.
  • For tickets only without accommodation arrangements: Applications open every Thursday
  • Number of tickets available for purchase: Up to 12 tickets per reservation
  • Payment method: credit card, cash, or electronic money
  • What you need: Reservation for the store visit

e.g.)

  • 2023/1/19 (Thu) 2:00 p.m. -: Start of sales for 2023/2/18 (Sat) – 2023/2/24 (Fri)

Both convenience stores and JTB will sell tickets only, every Thursday.

The inventory is separate from the official app and online reservations & tickets, so it’s worth a try if you can’t buy tickets using the first method I mentioned.

#3 Disney Store & Disney Flagship Tokyo

The third way is to buy tickets at the Disney Store and the Disney Flagship Tokyo.

Disney Stores that sell tickets (As of the date of posting)
  • Disney Flagship Tokyo
  • Funabashi LaLaport TOKYO-BAY
  • Omiya Arche
  • Koshigaya AEON Lake Town
  • Yokohama Sogo

Disney Flagship Tokyo is the largest Disney Store in Japan, located in Shinjuku.

There is a ticket counter on the second floor of the store, and you can purchase tickets by making a reservation to visit.

Disney Stores
  • Ticket Type: 1-Day Passport (subject to sell-out)
  • New tickets sold: Every Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.
  • Duration of tickets sold: Tickets sold up to approximately one month in advance
  • Number of tickets available for purchase: Up to 5 tickets per reservation
  • Payment method: Credit card or cash, electronic money
  • What you need: Reservation for the store visit

To make a reservation to come to the store, you need to download the Disney Store App (free).

If you live Tokyo metropolitan area and cannot buy it through the app, official website、 or convenience stores, the Disney Store would be a good place to start.

#4 Disney Hotels

The fourth method is to purchase tickets by booking a stay at one of the five current Disney Hotels through their official websites.

As a special offer for guests, you can purchase a one-day passport for the number of people staying at the hotel for the duration of your stay from the day you check-in.

You do not buy the tickets when you book the hotel, but directly at the hotel.

Disney Hotels
  • Type of ticket: 1-Day Passport
  • Sales location: JR Maihama Station Welcome Center, each hotel (except Celebration Hotel)
  • Hotel counters: 6:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
  • Welcome Center: 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • Number of passports available for purchase: 1-Day Passports for the number of people staying from the date of check-in
  • Payment method: Credit card or cash
  • Required documents: ID (representative only)

You can buy tickets at the hotel you have reserved or at the Welcome Center located at JR Maihama Station.

Only at Celebration Hotel, tickets can only be purchased at the hotel.

If you are entering the park on the day of check-in, it may be a hassle since Celebration Hotel is a bit far.

If you stop by the hotel before going to the park, you can leave your luggage there.

#5 Plan with park tickets at official hotels

Hilton Tokyo Bay, Tokyo Disney Resort, Maihama

Official hotels offer accommodation plans that include park tickets.

Official Hotel
  • Ticket Type: 1-Day Passport
  • Sales location: JR Maihama Station Welcome Center, each hotel
  • Hotel counter: 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
  • Welcome Center: 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  • Payment method: Credit card or cash
  • Required items: Identification (representative only)

At the official hotels, you can buy park tickets for the day you check in or check out.

In the case of Hilton Tokyo Bay, accommodation plans with tickets for the next two months go on sale every day at 11:00.

Also, partner hotels offer accommodation plans that include tickets.

Summary

I have outlined five ways to purchase tickets for Tokyo Disneyland and Sea in 2023.

If you’ve ever been to a Disney park in Japan, you’ll know that due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, the ticket sales process has become more complicated and confusing.

Official apps and online reservation sites are now releasing tickets every day, and it looks as if the battle for the tickets has come to an end.

Although the price fluctuation system has raised the price of tickets, many companies in Japan take weekends off, and tickets are still sometimes difficult to obtain, such as during the Christmas season or student’s spring vacation.

Even if you can’t buy tickets for the day you want to visit the park using one method, there are other ways to buy tickets, so you may want to try different ones.

I’ll keep you updated on the latest news on how to buy tickets!

Thank you for reading to the end.
