Shopping Review of Japan’s Largest Disney Store in Shinjuku

I have just been shopping at the Disney Flagship Tokyo and would like to share my review with you.

Location of Disney Flagship Tokyo

The Disney Flagship Tokyo is located in Shinjuku, central Tokyo.

When it comes to shopping in Tokyo, Shinjuku, Shibuya, and Harajuku are probably the most popular candidates.

I think Shibuya and Harajuku are suitable for young people in their teens and twenties, while Shinjuku is for people in their thirties and older.

Shinjuku is also an interesting place for sightseeing, with its Kabukicho and other shopping districts.

After shopping at the Disney Flagship Tokyo, I think you can still spend the whole day sightseeing and window shopping.

Important Notes on the Disney Store

First of all, please be aware that Tokyo Disney Resort and Disney Store have different running companies.

Japan’s Oriental Land Co., Ltd. manages the park under a licensing agreement with Disney.

On the other hand, the Disney Store in Japan is managed by the Japanese subsidiary of the Walt Disney Company.

Therefore, in Japan, the Disney Store and the Disney Park sell different merchandise.

So if you look for the Park’s headband at the Disney Store, you won’t find it.

Also, even plush toys of the same character have slightly different faces (because they are made by different manufacturers).

In other words, please read this review with the understanding that the Disney Store is a Disney merchandise store located outside the Tokyo Disney Resort.

The Disney Flagship Tokyo Lineup

The Disney Flagship Tokyo is the flagship store of the Disney Store in Japan.

Therefore, it starts selling new products before the online and domestic Disney Stores.

If you want to be the first to get your hands on new items, the best place to go is Flagship Tokyo.

Disney Flagship Tokyo Limited Edition

One of the features of the Disney Flagship Tokyo is that, unlike other Disney Stores, it has limited edition products.

The basement floor has a Marvel and Star Wars area that sells original products that can only be found at the Disney Flagship Tokyo.

Marvel doesn’t seem to have caught on in Japan, though.

Unfortunately, they are not well known and are discounted at the end of the season.

Maybe they will try to establish themselves by carrying Marvel products in their flagship.

Goods from the Disney Parks Abroad

Now that we can no longer travel overseas, fans are highly interested in Disney Park goods from abroad.

In particular, WDW’s 50th-anniversary merchandise is very hot in Japan.

The Disney Flagship Tokyo had WDW 50th Anniversary merchandise on display in their store on the first day of opening.

It sold out very quickly, but there were a lot of guests buying overseas goods.

Disney Flagship always has a large selection of merchandise from overseas parks.

There are ways to get WDW merchandise at Shop Disney in the US, but the shipping and customs fees are very costly (sometimes the shipping costs are higher than the merchandise).

At Disney Flagship Tokyo, you can see and buy overseas Disney merchandise while you are in Japan.

Personalized Items from Disney Flagship Tokyo

Wouldn’t it be great to have your own original Disney goods?

There are personalized items that can only be made at Disney Flagship Tokyo and Shop Disney in Japan (online).

“D-Made” is a custom-made product that allows you to add text and illustrations to your items.

You can choose items from a variety of products, so it is good not only for yourself but also as a gift for your family and friends.

For example, if you put the name and birthday on the stuffed animal, it can be a baby shower gift.

D-Made is also available at the online store, but unfortunately, it only ships within Japan.

Flagship Tokyo is the only place where you can buy “D-Made” in stores.

On the basement floor of the flagship, there is a D-Made lab.

In the lab, you can use the touch panel to order products while viewing the finished image.

What’s more, you can receive the finished product within the same day.

“D-Made” is a wonderful way to remember your trip.

Japan-only UniBEARsity(Bear Plush Toys)

If you visit the Disney Store in Japan, you MUST check out “UniBEARsity”.

“UniBEARsity” is a stuffed bear, an original character only available at the Disney Store in Japan.

One of Disney’s most famous stuffed bears is Duffy at Tokyo DisneySea.

In Japan, the park and the store are operated by different companies, so UniBEARsity and Duffy can coexist.

UniBEARsity (Pepperoni), a collaboration with Japanese celebrity Naomi Watanabe, is the flagship’s most popular product.

nuiMos from Japan

“nuiMOs” was born at the Disney Store in Japan and is now sold at Disney Stores around the world.

At Disney Flagship Tokyo, you can find a wide variety of “nuiMOs”.

“nuiMOs” is a plush toy that can be dressed up or down, and there are costumes that are only available in Japan.

There are also miniature furniture pieces for “nuiMOs” that are so cute you can’t help but want to pick them up.

Disney Store Sale Items

The Disney Flagship Tokyo also offers sale items, just like the Disney Store in Japan.

Sales are quite frequent at the Disney Store in Japan.

Seasonal products are sometimes on sale as early as a month after they are released.

The biggest sale is the New Year Sale.

I like checking out the children’s toys, and sometimes I come across a 50% discount.

Confectionaries available at the Disney Store

The Disney Flagship Tokyo also sells candy and snacks.

The variety of confectionaries is, to be frank, much greater at Tokyo Disney Resort.

However, the souvenir shops at the parks are crowded.

Most of the candy sold at the Disney Store are standard products found in supermarkets and are only Disney in their look.

So don’t worry, the taste is fine and delicious.

Merchandise from Tokyo Disneyland and Sea

When the Disney Flagship Tokyo opened in December 2021, there was Christmas merchandise from Tokyo Disneyland and Sea.

I wonder if the Christmas merchandise I saw was a highlight of the opening. Currently, there is no merchandise available for the park.

There is no word on future releases.

Tokyo Disney Resort Ticket Sales

Currently, you cannot buy park tickets at the Disney Store in Japan.

However, you can buy tickets only at the Disney Flagship Tokyo.

However, in order to buy tickets, you need to download the free Disney Store app in Japan and make a reservation to visit the store.

International Shipping at the Disney Store in Japan

You may want to send products bought at the Disney Store in Japan to other countries.

Unfortunately, the Disney Store in Japan does not offer international shipping!

So, Disney Flagship Tokyo also cannot ship overseas.

If you really want to send it overseas, you can put your purchase in a cardboard box and send it personally from the post office.

Summary

This article introduced Disney Flagship Tokyo, the biggest Disney store in Japan, opened in Shinjuku, Tokyo.

The Disney Store is also located in Shibuya and Harajuku, but the Shinjuku flagship is the only store that focuses on product selection and display.

There are also limited edition products available only at Flagship Tokyo.

Lastly, I want to tell you again that the Disney Flagship does not have the ears sold at the parks, so be careful.

During the Halloween season, the Disney Store may have headbands, but they are different from the ones at the parks.

There is also an event space at the Disney Flagship Tokyo, so we will wait for more information.
